MY VOTE, MY CHOICE!
School Choice Campaign organized MY VOTE, MY CHOICE! a parallel, issues-based campaign in the lead up to the Lok Sabha elections in 2009. The campaign was focused around the demands of the underprivileged students from the poorest neighborhoods in India for access to education of choice and aimed to bring educational issues to the forefront of the political debates.
School Choice Mascots took forward our message- If we can choose our government.... why can't we choose our schools? across four states- Delhi, Jharkhand, Orissa and Rajasthan. In this first-of-its-kind campaign, the mascots were present at all the major political rallies and public meetings to question the lack of choice for the poor and marginalized children in selecting their school. Jharkhand School Choice Alliance successfully conducted the campaign in Ranchi and Khunti from 8 to 21 April. All political rallies and important political locations in the constituencies were covered during this period. The campaign received 8 print media and 3 television coverage taking our message to millions of voters this election season.
