December 2007

Campaign is in full swing in Orissa. New partners are also joining as well to spread the campaign. Few Oriya celebrities are also supporting the campaign. Advocacy and signature collection is going on hand in hand. Children are also being involved in the campaign. 3, 50,260 signatures have been collected till date through direct contact. 318 parents meetings, 41 block level meetings and 25 district level meetings have been conducted till date. 135 memorandums have been submitted to Gram Panchayat, 36 to Panchayat Samity, 7 to the Zilla Parishad, 4 to MLAs/MLCs and 1 to MPs. Apart from those 23 rallies and 45 orientation programmes had been organized. Also getting good media coverage for the campaign.

October 2007

In Orissa mass campaign is on with an intensive mode throughout the state. A docudrama which has been prepared in Oriya language also encourages the people for understanding the aim of school choice campaign. The objective and message of the campaign are reaching door to door in every block. The street theatre group is also performing regularly in several villages as well as in few slums. 1, 13,260 signatures have been collected so far through direct contact. 256 parents meetings, 38 block level meetings and 21 district level meetings have been conducted till date. Submissions of memorandums are also going on to the Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samity, Zilla Parishad, MLAs & MLCs.

September 2007

CCS has partnered with Kalinga Centre for Social Development (KCSD) to mobilize parents for school choice in Orissa. On 5th June '07, a district consultation meeting on the school choice campaign was organized in Mayurbhanj district. A similar initiative was undertaken in Gajapati district on 17th June '07. NGOs from all over Orissa came together to chart out the campaign plan and strategies. Action for India's Development (AID) is accelerating the campaign in Gajapati. AID's theatre group has developed a street play to take the ideas of school choice to parents. The campaign was formally launched on 19th June '07 in Bhubaneswar along with other civil society organizations.

Meeting of PRI members at Rourkela of Sundergarh district 1500 signatures have been collected till date in Orissa through a direct contact campaign. Simultaneously 17 parents' meetings were conducted involving over 1100 parents. Two block level meetings and six district level meetings have been conducted so far..

August 2007

In this state 8 districts have been chosen for the campaign primarily which will have a state level impact. So far 41,960 signatures have been collected, 148 parents meeting have been conducted. 22 block level and 8 district level meetings have been conducted till date. 28 memorandums have been submitted to the Gram panchayat & 7 rallies have also been organized so far.
